When Canadian angler Paul Cioca first met Rene, a passionate German carp angler, on the banks of Lake Bled, the two hit it off instantly. A year later, Rene travelled all the way to Canada to return the favour — and after that trip, he made Paul a bold promise: “If you ever come to Germany, I’ll put you on a 20kg carp.” Now, Paul’s taken him up on the offer. Fishing a mix of waters — including a super-exclusive syndicate lake with just 20 members a year — he’s out to see whether Rene can really deliver on that promise.
